Paint Ideas for A Girls Room

I am going through the process of picking out new paint colors for our house and am having so much fun planning the colors for my little girls room.  I got to do this before she was born but we recently moved, so I get the fun job, and I’m not being sarcastic here, it really is fun, of picking out the color scheme for her room again.

I am going to keep the primary color that is her bedding and drapes and a few decor items which is a lime green.  My options for alternative colors are pink, purple, yellow or red.  I am leaning towards red just because I love the idea of lime green and red and I love lady bugs which would be a cute accent to the green drapes and bedding.

I fell in love with this design here

and got a few more ideas from this site that had tons of tips for decorating ideas. Now all I need to do is figure out how to do the walls as I don’t want red walls, but I love the idea of the stripes and wains coating.

Incorporating Basketball Cards Into Your Sports Decor

For sports fans, keeping the spirit of players or favorite teams is a great way to design a game room in your home or a child’s room. Using a combination of framed jerseys, posters, ticket stubs from special games and even framing basketball cards and other sports memorabilia can be a fun and inexpensive way to create a sports atmosphere.

You can get custom carpet made to look like a basketball court and you can put up a small hoop with soft basketballs. You can get life size player cutouts to display on the walls and if there is a favored team or player you can paint the room in the team colors.

Make sure to not over do it with the theme, but keep a few running elements to tie it all together. Keep in mind accent pieces can go along way and keep the cost down and should your little future NBA all star decide to go after another sport, you won’t be left replacing everything. To make the room feel personable and custom, do things like put your child’s name on a jersey and hang it instead of wall letters or get a specially autographed piece to put on display.

Blue and Gold Bedroom Decor

I have been working on a redesign for my mom’s new bedroom. The project is to update her bedroom decor to something that will be more current and fresh as she moves into a new phase of her life – early retirement! Her previous bedroom was pink and green, very eighties and very unappealing. Now we are thinking of going in a completely opposite direction to give the room a sense of class and refined taste.

The result is a beautiful bedroom. We got new navy bedding with gold accents and trim and got blue, turquoise and gold drapes with gold rope tie backs. We added candelabra like light fixtures on both sides of the bed to give the classic look of a traditional bed but with a more modern twist. We painted the walls a bright white and added decals of deep blues and golds. We added a few neutral accent pieces like floral arrangements, linens and area rugs, the finished look is gorgeous.
